Kami changed multiple hands over the course of a year, at one point ending up in an auction before coming to H.O.P.E. in March, 2022. She arrived very thin, with rain rot in her coat and an infected front hoof. In spite of her neglect she is very sweet, sociable, and laid-back. During her first farrier visit, she was comfortable enough to take a brief nap in a volunteer's arms.
Since her arrival, she recovered from her thrush infection and had several bad teeth extracted. Much more comfortable now, she has been steadily putting on weight while showing off her shiny new coat. Her sweet, calm nature quickly endeared her to our volunteers and has made her a great pasture mate for some of our other senior horses.
