Kami

23 yr old, 15hh Quarter Horse Mare

Available as a Pasture Mate
Kami is sweet and easy-going in spite of where she came from. She changed multiple hands over the course of a year, at one point ending up in an auction before coming to H.O.P.E. in March, 2022. She was malnourished, suffering from rain rot, and had a hoof infection so bad that it was infested with maggots. She was sociable from the start, though, and was comfortable enough during her first farrier visit to enjoy a brief nap in a volunteer's arms. Her laid-back nature has made her a great companion for some of our other senior horses.

Full side view of Kami during her rehabilitation. Her ribs are still visible, but her topline is no longer prominent, and its apparent that she has put on weight in her flanks and hindquarters, even if she is lacking in some muscle tone.

Kami grazing. You can see how prominent her ribs, topline, and pelvic bones are. Her front hoof, which was infected when she was brought in, is wrapped.
