Run or walk the HOPE Lope 5k, our fifth annual fundraiser benefiting the horses of H.O.P.E. Acres! We rely on community partners, donors, and volunteers to help us give the horses and donkeys of H.O.P.E. the care they need. The rescue has no paid positions, so 100% of all donations and fundraising proceeds will benefit equines that are sick, starving, and in need of a good home.
This one is virtual only* so you can participate anywhere at a time that's convenient for you! Walk around your neighborhood, run on the beach, or jog on a treadmill: the choice is yours! Doesn't matter if you're in Charleston or Chattanooga, you can participate. If you're enjoying the outdoors at one of your favorite places or exploring someplace new, we hope you share with us where you choose to run your Lope on social media (#hopelope5k and #hopeacresrescue) or here on the race website.
You'll have a week (May 3 - May 11) to complete the race and submit your time here on the race website. This is a fun run, so there's no need to submit a time unless you're competing with friends and family or want to compare with how you did last year. If you want to run as a team, you can create a group at registration and invite others to join. If you would like a race shirt, we ask for a $10 shipping donation to help us keep our costs down, ensuring more money goes to the horses. Shirts will be mailed prior to the race start.
*Initially we planned for the 2024 Lope to be a hybrid event with both a virtual option and an in-person race held at Wannamaker Park. Although we were excited by the idea of a new park venue, we have decided to hold only the virtual event this year. Focusing on just the virtual race will be more manageable for our small team at H.O.P.E. Acres to organize. We appreciate everyone—sponsors, participants, and volunteers—helping us to make this year's HOPE Lope a rousing success!
