HOPE Acres goes pink in October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness and in memory of Patricia "Pat" Gibson, loving mother, wife, sister, daughter and aunt.
Congratulations to Willow & Ginger on finding your forever families!
It's Fall..............Fundraising Fall That Is!!
We hope each of you have enjoyed a wonderful summer. We have had our most active season in history. With the addition of our Partner Program, created and coordinated by trainer and volunteer, Greg Grochowski, an influx of new volunteers and nearly a dozen adoptions, we have been extremely blessed. Fall welcomes an active time when we get out and about to share "HOPE" with the community. In large part, these events bring new connections, new friendships, awareness and the monetary support that enables us to facilitate our rescue and rehabilitation efforts. None of this would be feasible without the ever present participation of our volunteers. Below you will find a number of our upcoming offsite venues and a link to Sign Up Genius that you can elect to participate in one or more of these events. We would like to thank you in advance for your assistance and generosity.
WEST FARM CORN MAZE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15th 12:00 - 4:00
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16TH 1:00-5:00
This is the first year we are covering two days at the maze. After you volunteer you can enjoy the maze, have lunch, visit the farm animals, try your hand at the apple toss, decorate a pumpkin or take a hay ride. This is a wonderful family friendly event. Can't volunteer? No worries, come on out and enjoy the festivities and be sure to stop by our tent and say hello. We would love to see you.
SANTEE CIRCLE COMMUNITY CHURCH
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29TH, 3:00 - 5:00
This event is held annually for the congregation. We are looking for approximately 8 volunteers to assist during the two hour event.
We are also making plans for our largest fundraiser that begins November 25, 2016. HOPE Acres Rescue will be on site every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Christmas. This is an enormous fundraiser for the rescue in that it takes between 8 - 12 volunteers every night to make it successful. With the spirit of the holidays in our hearts and the motivation to impact the lives in our care, it is a truly joyous time for all. We will be cooking food, serving hot chocolate, coffee and apple cider. Our volunteers are already busy working on crafts to donate for sale and we will spend a few nights in the Interpretive Center with Santa and the children. We invite you to sign up to volunteer, donate or just bring the family by to say hello. There is something for everyone at the Festival!
We are excited to share that our very own Board Member, Volunteer Coordinator and Friend, Becky Strong, was one of four South Carolina teachers to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching! Becky teaches 6th grade science at Cario Middle School in Mt. Pleasant. Her career encompasses teaching our youth for some 28 years. Becky had the opportunity to travel to Washington in September with her sister, Robin, where she was presented with the award. All of us at the rescue are extremely proud of you; your accomplishments, your dedication to education and your commitment to the future of our youth. Kudos Becky!
